Anyone that has a computer has probably seen one of the get rich quick ad's for paid surveys. Momentarily we think "wow!" But, that split second thought quickly changes to: "It must be a scam." However, since the economy is poor and jobs are scarce, we find ourselves wondering if it could be real. The answer is yes and no.

Yes, there are plenty of legitimate companies and web sites that pay for surveys. They genuinely want your opinion and will compensate you for it. On the other hand, there are a lot of companies that have taken the practice and turned it into a scam. The only person going to get rich for a paid survey, is a scam artist. But, you can make a healthy income supplement by taking legitimate surveys. So, let's take a closer look at legitimate paid surveys.

What is it? A paid money survey deals with statistical data. It is used to collect information about the person's personal or economic habits. In return, the person will receive monetary compensation, free products, gift certificates, etc...

Who use's surveys and what for? Most often, legitimate surveys are done by companies selling goods or services. They use the survey as marketing research. This helps them determine how to promote and sell their product or service. For example: Tide might seek out women with kids, and give them a survey about their last ad campaign, that was targeted toward people with kids. They can then use the information from the survey to see if their previous marketing was effective.

Of course, other places do surveys as well, but most of the legit surveys originate from private companies. Sites that require a membership to search their database of paid online surveys are often the fastest way to find multiple companies, and increase the amount of money that you can make. They essentially serve as a third party; finding, listing, and linking you to the paid survey. However, be careful. Some of these companies are simply scamming you out of a membership fee. Only prudent research will tell you which companies are legit and which are scams.

Tips to actually get paid from a legitimate site Read the fine print! Often, very specific guidelines will exist for you to get paid. If the fine print says the survey is for a woman, but a man takes it...the man will not get paid. If a site asks you for a credit card or personal banking info, they are not legitimate. Look the companies name up on the Better Business Bureau. If it is a scam, more than likely there will be others dubbed and reported the site or company.

There are a lot of real companies that offer online surveys for cash. There are quite a few database sites that can help you find them. The key is prudent research.

Need extra cash? Start to take surveys online and get paid now.
